Welcome on the pages of the Escloupeto of Rodez

Founded in 1953, “Escloupeto” is a traditional folk dance group, made up of thirty musicians and dancers of an average age of 20 years old.

We represent the peasant world of mid-19th-century Rouergue (former province representing approximately the department of Aveyron) and wear traditional dress. Our wooden clogs gives us the name of our group: “escloupeto” in Occitan means “the wearer of clogs”.

The Occitan language is one of the most important values of the group: promoting and defending our traditions is a legacy for all of us.

We also have a dance school where children aged 6 to 12 can learn the basics of our folk dance: bourrée, waltz, polkas, Scottish dances, mazurkas,…

The club has also a theatre section which performs plays in Occitan (such as plays from the Major de Félibrige, a literary and cultural association which defends and promotes Occitan language) as well as in French.

Our group performs everywhere around the Rouergue province, but also in other areas of France and abroad, to bring life to parties, weddings, banquets, parades and various events, with colourful shows.

It goes without saying that the lively stomping of clogs on the floor creates an authentic, dynamic and very unique show. Escloupeto upholds their traditions by transmitting them to their audience. We are only waiting for you!
